The Key West African Festival is a three-day event which celebrates African culture.
The goal of the Key West African Festival is to encourage the mental, physical and spiritual health of the African community and explore relevant ideas to advance African and Afro-Caribbean cultures, as well as other African communities within the greater African diaspora.
The festival includes several community gatherings:
- Music and art
- Wellness events
- A wide variety of workshops
- An academic conference to unite scholars and the African community
In past years the festival has incorporated significant elements from African history in Key West, including the Key West African Cemetery and the Historic Henrietta Marie, a salvaged slave shipwreck.
